Email I sent to a friend while sipping a drink

Tonight,  a short while ago, I was enjoying a beer, and a drink of whisky, that I'm still enjoying now, and I decided to take the time to write my only pen pal that I have in Europe. She is a friendly Christian lady originally from the Philippines who is very religious. She is quite kind, and encouraging, while aware that I live with the mental illness schizophrenia.

I wrote her an email tonight, while having this drink, that I wish to share here now, excluding her name, and all personal details about her life, and calling her only Jane. I wish to post this email because I like the unusual ideas I was strangely inspired to write about.

To give readers an idea of what we were talking about in the prior messages of our correspondence; we discussed God, and his promises, the mysteries of life, the many unknown dimensions of our world, and how reality is complicated beyond what we know; we discussed how people living with schizophrenia comprise only one percent of earths population, how this is a population whose behavior involves phenomena that is still yet to be understood; we discussed my belief that God talks directly to me; we discussed how people don't believe the claims made by people living with mental illness that God is speaking directly to them, as well as other mysteries of this world.

Hello Jane,

I hope you're having a really nice visit with your family. I agree with your point that people living with schizophrenia make up only one percent of the people in this world. I also agree with you that there are many parts of reality we are yet to understand. I also think there are many parts of reality we think we understand when we don’t really have the answers.

Life is a significant mystery and throughout history different voices have been describing that mystery, and lots of people listened to those explanations and thought they understood what is what about this mysterious planet we're on in the midst of the sky.

We exist somewhere in the unknown, a part of a distant backdrop beyond us comprising who knows what, maybe an infinite number of worlds, or a step beyond our comprehension comprising a completely different creative order, and maybe that’s just the beginning of all things unknown, and all answers, because all of reality might not be confined to our familiar experiences, and rest there alone.

Our limited beliefs may not own a description of truth in our measly duration on this planet. When we look out through a telescope that barely begins to chart the size of the enormity of space what do we now know.

All our conceptions of God, who he is, what his reaches are, what he wishes for us to know, philosophically, not dogmatically according to a religious tradition, could encompass unknowns we are yet to encounter that differentiate greatly from all our subjective interpretations, and also differ in detail from the myths our ancestors conjured up in their imperfect lives. They like us perhaps we’re just ignorant people making judgments about a world we really know yet hardly anything about.

I believe God is real though because he talks to me. It’s often Jesus who talks to me so I know he’s real. It’s true that people are skeptical of mentally ill people’s claims that God is speaking to them and to be completely honest with you Jane I’m skeptical of a lot of sane religious people’s grasp of reality. That’s part of the reason why my writing deviates from so much dogma and sets a course toward understanding God and his mystery that isn’t constrained by organized religion.

I know we have the same God and I think the path to truth is a path God has prepared for all human beings, but I believe that approach, and the results getting there, are going to be very different, and that the journey will lead to the discovery of unique perspectives that transcend our familiar boundaries and offer increasingly new aspects on what the mystery comprising the unknown is.

I then concluded this email at this point with personal words offered to Jane. I don't know if I'll keep this blog post, but right now, motivated by a few alcoholic beverages that I had, I'm thinking I'd like people to read these thoughts and hopefully comment on them.

It's mostly just a blog to be creative on after all. I just temporarily forgot that I hope to sell books. Peace all.
